Architectural Stone Co manufactures kitchen benchtops for Auckland homeowners, kitchen makers, builders and designers from our plant at 65A View Road, Wairau Valley. Everything happens under one roof: slab selection in our showroom, digital templating on site, CNC fabrication, and installation by our own crews.
The kitchen benchtop is the single most used surface in an Auckland home. It has to survive daily cooking, sun through north-facing glazing, and years of cleaning products — so the right choice is as much about how you live as how the slab looks.
We work across all three benchtop families: natural stone (quartzite, granite, marble), engineered stone, and porcelain. If you are not sure which suits your kitchen, come and see full slabs rather than samples — a 50mm chip never tells you what a whole island will look like.

Choosing a kitchen benchtop material
- Natural stone — quartzite, granite and marble. Every slab is unique, with movement and depth no manufactured surface reproduces. Quartzite is the hard-wearing favourite for busy family kitchens.
- Engineered stone — consistent colour and pattern across slabs, ideal for large runs, sculleries and multi-unit projects where repeatability matters. We prioritise Zero Silica and Low Silica products.
- Porcelain — the most heat and UV stable of the three, and the go-to for outdoor kitchens, BBQ areas and ultra-thin modern profiles.

How the process works
Step one is slab selection. Visit the Wairau Valley showroom or send us your plans and we will talk you through what is available and what it costs. Step two is templating: once your cabinetry is installed and your sink, taps and hob are on site, we digitally template the actual space rather than working from drawings.
Step three is fabrication in our Auckland plant, and step four is installation — usually 7 to 10 working days from template day. After install, leave the sink untouched for 24 hours so the adhesive can cure before the plumber connects it.
Auckland-wide, and beyond
Our standard service area is Whangarei to Bombay, so every Auckland suburb is covered — North Shore, Hibiscus Coast, Central Auckland, West Auckland, East Auckland and South Auckland. We travel further on request, and we can coordinate nationwide work through a network of high quality benchtop manufacturers in other regions.

Common questions
How long does a kitchen benchtop take in Auckland?
Approximately 7-10 working days from template day. Extra large or complex kitchens can take up to 15 working days.
Do you template and install, or just supply?
We are manufacturers. We digitally template on site, fabricate in our Wairau Valley plant and install with our own installation teams.
What do I need ready before templating?
All sinks, vanity bowls, taps, airswitches and hobs need to be on site near the cabinets they are going into. Your kitchen manufacturer will usually coordinate this with you.
Which parts of Auckland do you cover?
Our standard service area runs from Whangarei to Bombay, which covers all of Auckland — North Shore, Central, West, East and South Auckland. We can travel further on request.
Is engineered stone safe in a home kitchen?
Yes. Respirable crystalline silica risk exists only during manufacturing. Our plant and management systems are accredited by WorkSafe NZ and NZESAG / Impac, and where possible we process Zero Silica or Low Silica engineered stone.
