Engineered Stone Benchtops Auckland
Consistent colour, predictable pattern, and a fabricator accredited for safe silica handling.

Engineered stone remains the most specified benchtop surface in New Zealand kitchens, and for good reason: colour and pattern repeat reliably from slab to slab, which makes matching long runs, sculleries, laundries and multiple units straightforward.
Architectural Stone Co fabricates and installs engineered stone benchtops across Auckland from our plant at 65A View Road, Wairau Valley.

Silica safety — where we stand
Health risks from respirable crystalline silica arise during manufacturing, not in your finished kitchen. Once installed, an engineered stone benchtop is completely safe to live with.
Inside the plant it is a different discipline. Our facility, staff training and management systems are accredited by WorkSafe NZ and NZESAG / Impac, and we are industry leaders in eliminating silica risk. Where possible we process Zero Silica or Low Silica engineered stone.
Where engineered stone excels
- Kitchens where colour needs to match exactly across benches, island and scullery
- Multi-unit subdivisions, apartments and retirement villages needing repeatable specification
- Laundries, vanities and utility surfaces
- Interiors out of direct sunlight — for outdoor areas we specify porcelain
Care, warranty and brands
Never put hot pots straight onto engineered stone — thermal shock can crack a benchtop. Use a cutting board rather than cutting on the surface, and follow our engineered stone care guide, which is downloadable as a printable PDF.
Warranty terms vary by brand. Our technical resources section links directly to each manufacturer's warranty documents and properties, so you can compare before you commit. Other brands are available on request.
Common questions
Is engineered stone safe?
Once installed, an engineered stone benchtop is 100% safe. Respirable crystalline silica risk occurs only during manufacturing. Our plant and management systems are accredited by WorkSafe NZ and NZESAG / Impac, and where possible we process Zero Silica or Low Silica engineered stone.
Is engineered stone expensive?
Typically a bit more than a laminate benchtop, but well worth it for the durability, beauty and longevity. There are options across a wide range of budgets.
Can engineered stone be repaired?
Yes, chips in engineered stone can often be repaired seamlessly. Contact us for a list of professional repairers.
Can it go outside?
Engineered stone is not recommended for direct sun exposure. For Auckland outdoor kitchens we specify porcelain instead.
