Architectural Stone Co is an Auckland stone benchtop manufacturer based at 65A View Road, Wairau Valley. We supply, fabricate and install stone benchtops for kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, bars, hearths and commercial fitouts across the region.
Because we are the fabricator rather than a reseller, the slab you choose in our showroom is the slab that ends up in your home. Nothing gets substituted between selection and install.
Our stone comes from a supplier network that includes leading natural stone importers and the engineered stone and porcelain brands most specified in New Zealand. Each product family has its own properties, warranty and care requirements, all documented in our technical resources.

Natural stone
Quartzite is the workhorse of the natural stone world: dense, hard and less porous than marble, which makes it a strong choice for a family kitchen island. Granite offers the widest range of colour and pattern at a broad range of price points. Marble delivers a look nothing else matches, provided you accept that it will develop a patina.
Every natural slab is one of a kind. We recommend viewing whole slabs — the movement across two metres of quartzite is what you are actually buying.
Engineered stone
Engineered stone gives you consistency: predictable colour, predictable pattern, easy matching across long runs, sculleries and multiple units. It is the practical answer for developments and for clients who want a specific, repeatable look.
Silica safety matters to us. Our plant and management systems are accredited by WorkSafe NZ and NZESAG / Impac, and where possible we process Zero Silica or Low Silica engineered stone.
Porcelain
Porcelain is the most UV and heat stable surface we supply, which makes it the standard choice for Auckland outdoor kitchens, BBQ benches and poolside bars. It also enables very thin, contemporary edge profiles.
Fabrication guidelines differ by brand, so we follow the manufacturer's fabrication manual for whichever porcelain you choose.

Common questions
What is the difference between natural stone and engineered stone?
Natural stone is quarried and cut from the earth, so every slab is unique. Engineered stone is manufactured, which gives consistent colour and pattern from slab to slab.
Do natural stone benchtops need sealing?
Yes. Most professionals recommend resealing natural stone at least once a year, depending on use and cleaning frequency. Our care guides cover the detail and are downloadable as printable PDFs.
Can a chipped stone benchtop be repaired?
Engineered stone and natural stone can often be repaired seamlessly. Porcelain edges are more vulnerable and chips there are not always repairable.
Can I put hot pots directly on stone?
No. Thermal shock can crack a benchtop. Always use a trivet or heat pad.
